ICAN is our project which has evolved to support Community members (children, young people, adults and older adults) to cycle. We are privileged to live in an area that has over 37 miles of interconnecting cycle paths. We are training cycle leaders and Bike Buddies available to help you gain your confidence when you collect your bike from us. For those unable to use a two wheeled bike, we have access to trikes and other types of assisted bikes. We work with Harlow Fields school to provide bikes for their students taking part in their cycling skills and are open to collaborations with other schools or workplaces.
The Cycle Recycle and our ICAN (Inclusive Cycling Around the Neighbourhood) projects, aim to make cycling accessible and inclusive for everyone. This initiative encourages sustainable practices while promoting physical activity and independence through cycling.
In Harlow there are over 37 miles of cycle paths which can be used for our Buddy Mentoring scheme and for those who wish to gain confidence. Our Learn To sessions are a precursor for the Level 1 Bikeability courses and we are looking forward to hosting more cycle sessions in the Summer.
We are able to source different types of bikes from our friends at Trailnet in Brentwood so that cycling can be experienced and enjoyed by all who participate.
Our friends at Lee Valley Cycles and Harlow Cycling Club help us to upcycle donated bikes which are loaned to those in need. The bikes are returned when our cyclists grow and redistributed back into the community.
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced cyclist, we welcome you to join us in making cycling a part of a healthier and more inclusive community. Stay tuned for more updates and opportunities to get involved.
Harlow Cycle Recycle is one of our most successful projects. People kindly donate their unused bikes and our dedicated team of cycle mechanics service and repair them. So far we have given out over 200 bikes to the community and our list is always growing. If you would like to be considered for a Recycled Cycle, please use the contact form and we can send a Registration Form and more information.
